I Think The Answer Is YES You Do Need A License And A Day Ticket Unless Your A Member Of A Club Who Has Fishing Rights To The Water. Mixture Of Species Pike,Carp,Tench,Roach To Name A Few. Take A look On The Wansbeck and Cramlington Angling Club (W.A.C.A.C) Site Or Contact Billy At His Store In North Shields For More Information.
There Is Other Clubs In The North East With Web Sites That May Also Help Big Waters, Leazes Park (L.P.A.A.) For A Lake In The City Centre Leazes Park Can Produce Some Surprises A 27lb Carp Was The Biggest In 2009.

YES you need a licence to fish

YES you need a day ticket, BUT not if your a member of a club who's water it is and they have the right to fish.

YOU could be a member and obtain an exchange ticket from your club, this will allow you fish another clubs water.

You can buy them online from the post office, depends on your age etc, but £26 will get you a trout and coarse fish licence which covers the whole of england , one time you had to buy a different licence for each county , it was a right pain for the travelling angler.
Once you have your E.A. rod licence you can buy permits to fish different waters , they have to be bought locally wherever you are fishing , like QE2 permits can be bought from MacDermots in Ashington I think .

You could obtain a day ticket from the pub at the qe2. The day ticket allowed you to fish from sunrise to sunset but not overnight, i think! If you were registered disabled this normally gives you a cheaper membership to most clubs. At the qe2 there's an access road that run's around the lake which disabled/handicapped anglers can use,as parking in the main car park leads to abit of a hike for some.
