quiet spots

know some people may hate me for bringing up the subject this early in the year, but with the weather improving, it mey be happening soon.

Makerel.

as they are an easy fish to catch, i intend to get my kids (4 and 9) into fishing this summer, does anyone know of any marks that might be suitible.

i'm looking for somewhere between the wear and blyth that is easy to fish(ie very little distance required and no rocks), safe and reasonably quiet(no daft kids drinking and swearing) with a bit of room for them to learn in.

a tall order i know, but worth asking.

You tend to find that there arnt really any quiet spots to catch mackeral, unless you fish from the rocks. All the numpties head for the piers, the trick is to beat them to it. Remember, your typical chav doesnt get out of bed till at least 10am so an early start eliminates 90percent of them. Mackeral are also easyiest caught at first light, so if the kids are up for an early start the piers are your best bet. An alternative to mackeral fishing is the river tyne. Try fishing infront of the copthorne hotel, next to the tyne bridge. There is close by free parking, no nuggets and plenty fish. Fish it on an incoming tide with rag, lug and crab.

i aint sure if this is right but i was in a tackle shop yesterday and the lad who runs it i know rather well and he over heard someone sayin that they where catching them about 1.5mile out off hartlepool over the weekend to be honest i think its just a bit of bull seems a bit too early at the moment

weathers been weird tho mate......neva know i guess...caught mine last yr mid may .....and it was relatively cold as well this time last yr ....so who knows....

i started getiing them off the pier end of may.....maybe thewy could be there have to try testing the water maybe
