woke up about 5-30 this morning and decided on the spur of the moment to have a quick session on the rat house upto high water, chucked the gear in the car and arrived just after 6am. only 2 cars parked up so thought there must have been little caught, as i went on there was three lads fishing that had only had one undersized whiting all night. not promising but set up on the corner anyway. put one rod out with fresh blacks (hoping against the odds for a cod) on and a light rod out with a 3 hook flapper baited with macky, nothing for 15 minutes then both rods started knocking almost simultaneously, wound the rod baited with worm in first resulting in a good whiting just over 1lb, by this time the light rod was going ballistic - a double shot of decent whitings. after that is was whiting after whiting for over 2 hours, kept 16 that were deeply hooked and returned a lot more than i kept, only whiting i know, but an enjoyable couple of hours of non stop action.

well done Mick, nothing wrong with whiting good sport and decent eating, the things that ive noticed more and more is this comments about deep hooked fish, personally i take a fish home if i want it wether its deep hooked or whatever, the same applys to codling, its becoming it seems wrong to want to take fish home,as long as its legal size then everyone has a right to there catch, soon be Gambia time again mate ........ no point it taking them fish home :D
