Had a crappy session today 
Won't be in the NE for the next month or so so thought I'd try my last shot at getting a cod. Bought runny down, rag, mussel and squid. Fished two rods - one with a bulky bait and the other with a two hook flapper.
Fished 5am-11am only having THREE bites in total - all in daylight. Ended up with a decent whiting and a palm sized flounder plus two rigs with grip leads that a managed to hook...
No one else doing anything in the ratty - at least two people ventured to South Shields. Roker pier was closed.
To the people fishing the ramp in the early morning - you are a disgrace to our sport. At least 5 whiting were lined up on the ramp along with coke and lager cans. A number of non-anglers noticed your mess and complete disregard to the fish. Morons.
