Fished the rathouse today with my grandad as he cant walk far from the car :( what a joke it was it was like saint nicks was on a day trip people casting over you every cast and shouting its a whale every time they got a 4insh fish or a snag  some strange people down that way like think I should of just stayed local ie tyneside ;)

i just done 2.5 hours on beach but could not keep bottom so left the ratty is always busy when it gets about that a big one has been caught, i had a little look and turned away.

I dont mind fishing when its busy its when you get numptys that have no clue what there doing  it had my head in bits :( was going to try the end of the little pier where your not ment to go on looks well fishy but had the gramps with me

Cheers for the offer mate but the bairns got cheerleading so going to fish the evening tide from 330 till 10 maybe another day

last time we went down to roker we just went of the cat and dog steps cracking little spot on high tide seats to sit on an sheltered got for around 3 hrs tide up and going out

Hate the rathouse to it's always a mess and u can't get moved hopefully I never fish there again but it's a shame as I've seen some canny fish caught there

rat house /roker pier

rat house /roker pier

The place is a joke and a mess, the council should shut it and adapt for disabled angling only
total agree the place is a ****e hole with all the mess no wonder the sailing club complains, the seats have been damaged and rubbish bins set on fire.
I don't agree it should be shut but anglers that use this venue must respect the place most anglers remove the rubbish as there are plenty bins in the car park.
the same goes for the pier when it reopens please remove all rubbish and old line, anglers that don't take any notice are just giving the council ammo to stop angling from the pier and just make it for pedestrians.
I would hate to see this happen as it is an excellent venue for disabled fishermen and responsible anglers.
over the last 40 years I have had many a good session both on the rathouse and the pier .
both of these venues could be removed by the council by a few irresponsible
people
