rays

thornies have been caught more and more frequently over the past few years down at Seaham and the colliery beaches, search jarrow vikings threads and you will find a couple from past 2 years i think.

Only ever heard rumours from other lads along Horden/Easington but nothing sure. Iv'e always tried after the light fades down Horden but nothing yet,one will come my way and al have it?

ive just searched jarrowvikings threads and in may 09 he had one of 8lb, i dont know how to put up a link but if you find it there are pics also. Think the pic may be his avatar also.

sorry guys my bad...shoulda stated this year.. i have not head heard owt about a ray in the north east just yet or on the durham beaches...conditions have been far from ideal i think ....if anyone has done so well done ...i am still on my quest tho ....

Theres a few taken every year from Seaham north pier in the autumn.
Flat sea and a small to medium tide being the best time.
Bait,sandeel with a squid wrap.
Most people target them on big tides when small to medium ones are better, especialy on the beaches...

I targeted them a few years ago but never got one, fished Seaham pier. There were reports of fish showing every week along with doggies, mate got few dogs but no rays. Probs best to go with the 2 rods approach cos you may wait a while. I do believe that if they were there then they will still be around.
