We had a post probably last year sometime about buying Razor fish,I was just wondering if any peeps have bought any from the Chineese supermarkets in Newcastle or any where else lately?I went up and bought some after the discussion on here, however I went back to the same shop in the Haymarket last week and the lady did\'nt know what I was talking about, she was trying to sell me some squid !I did\'nt have time to go over to Stowell Street either.
I have also heard there is a Chineese wholesalers in the Toon somewhere who sell it,not sure what the minimum order would be though !

Alan, there has been a lad on ebay lately selling lots of 100 for £20. I was tempted, but wondered what would happen if I was at work when the postie came? Mushy, rotting razors to refreeze!!!

Seemed a good idea at the time though, and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the ammo frozen stuff.

I would definately be interested in sharing the cost of a bulk lot with you though mate. Let me know if you get any info.

mushy, smelly razor aint such a bad thing rob

i have taken many a cod on razor that has been left out in the air for 2 days before fishing, seems to fish better like that

macky

macky, is that mancky razor fished by itself of used in a cocktail with mussel? Had a bit success with them but found squid, mussel and lug cocktails have worked better for me?

\"squid, mussel and lug cocktails\"...........my favourite Winter combination :exclam:

Nice to see the Shields Lads are sticking together! Hope to bump into you one Friday night on the pier Tony (might even share my supply of mancky razors!!)

Lol, Rob.......\"Nice to see the Shields Lads are sticking together!\"........just like the manky razorfish !!!!

Gogs posted on here ages ago about leaving your Razor fish out for a couple of days until it started to turn yellow. He said it performed much better. Will be giving it a good go myself soon.

Jim I started leaving mine out last season, put it outside during the day and it was just right for the evening session,if it was really cold i would start them off in some warm water then stick them in the shed.

You can get razors from North Shields fish quay,me and my mate got 40 bundles of 5 each, for the princley some of £60 the lot(80 bundles) he said he wanted rid as he was getting a new batch in from Europe,he wanted £1 a bundle, but told us he wanted rid BEFORE talking money BIG MISTAKE-so we got them for 75p a bundle and there a good size. :D :D :D ;) ;)

Cant you get fresh ones,??
At low water pour table salt into the funnel in the sand. They pop up in about ten seconds. wait till its well up and pull it out

Paul -as earlier posts have said the smellier they get the better they get so fresh ones might not be the norm with razors- i have read that Cod \"sniff\" them out after Huge storms have smashed them to bits and they litter the sea bed after the tides have come and gone,so if they are lying on the shore as the tide retreats, and the gulls dont get them, they will go off and as the tide comes back in the fish are looking for them-sounds so simple when you think about it -NOT- but i reckon a tub of salt and back breaking searching doesnt come close to 75p a bundle of 5- LOL :P :P :P :P ;)

biggest fish in seaham open last year was caught on rotten smelly razor last year . didnt have any myself so i didnt win , didnt even catch anything.

One of the best sessions I had was on Lug mussel and razorfish that were all well past their use by date lol. my hands and cloth were lifting. When they ran out I started using all fresh stuff and never caught another thing. I never throw away mussel or razor always use them again and they quite often work better when they have a bit of a ming about them.

Jim.

I was over at the chinese supermarket beside the Telewest arena, but couldn\'t see any razorfish, plenty squid at £1.05 per box tho.

The week before they had 1kg boxes of frozen soft crabs about 4 inches wide, about 15 in the box for £10.50 - none left now, which I\'d give them a try :casstet:

the ones at the Chinese Restaurants, are from Brazil and are actually a FRESH WATER razor- dont know if it would make any differance to use as a bait, but i would not use a big runny to try and catch a Chub, Carp Etc Etc, could be wrong, maybe no-ones tried it - i know salt water fish catch pike, but the other way round wouldnt know- Micky Quayle - any thoughts. :P ;)
