im going to try the tyne tommorow in the hope of a codling the shore has only produced the sort of flatty you don't know you have on till it's out the water for me so far (the lure of the fly is becoming stronger !!.... pun intended)

fishing is poor the crabs are out in force raping the baits i pulled in a dozen in today over 4 hours and only 40 yards from beach and further distances

i would say s/shields for the odd plaice ragworm bait settled conditions plus dabs and coalies.

and with fresh crab the tyne river should start to fish very soon for codling looking for crab.

dont think its a stupid question at all no harm in asking.
