fished today with m8 12.30pm till 6pm 1 small codling and 1 large whitey both returned lug tipped with mackerel.... going to try and drag m8 away to another spot on thursday

If the thread title is correct he was on the Red Light aka Pilot Pier on Hartlepool headland

You're not missing much. It's a quite sheltered mark (behind the Heugh) and can fish well in certain specific conditions (and when open beach marks are unfishable) but for general fishing there are plenty of better marks around.
