reducer question

i just received a century rod that is 13\' plus a 12\" reducer.. should the reel go on the butt section of the rod or on the reducer itself for casting.. sorry for the dumb question.. i\'ve been casting with a 14\' rod but haven\'t used (or seen anyone else use) a reducer..

hi, i have cast off reducers myself before but i always like to whip about 4ins of the bottom of the butt even on the rienforced zziples i use , everybodys different but butts can split if you rienforce he bottom of the butt at least you are doing everything possible to stop it from happening thats just my opion for what it is worth, why dony you just put the reel about 10ins up from bottom of original butt, longer the rod the more leverage you have against you puts strain on your wrist while reeling in especialy with a fish on
