Reel Confusion

In the market for a new reel...or even reels.

Looking to get a new beach multiplier and a new rock multiplier and was wondering what people use on the beach, and also as a heavy rock reel.

Was set on the penn 535 as the rock reel, but temples said I would be much better with a sl30sh, though the general vibe on here is that the 535 is a good reel.

Also, what is the difference between the 535 GS and the 535 Mag (alnd also the 525 TMag!!!).

So what are peoples thoughts and also what are tboth the Penn and Diawa\'s like in term of casting performance??

regards

Stu

Personally I would choose the slosh Stuey, its a all rounder,I use mine everywhere, got 525 mag and a Abu 6500 ct but keep using the slosh

got to go with the slosh 30 fantastic strong reel great for heavy ground fishing and also great on the beach

noticed in decembers sea angler they are selling the new slh30shv for £80= good price have not used the new ones but have been told that the older model is the better (preference i guess)

seems about the going rate unless you try Ebay

Hey John ,alright mate ,just wondered what the slosh 30 is like for hand clearance on retrieval , just seem to remember someone ages ago saying it\'s tricky.

Never owned a Slosh (yet) But I use a 525 for the beach and a 535 for the rocks and wouldn\'t go past them at the mo. robfow just bought a 525 for the beach and is well impressed with it after his first couple of outings.

Going against the tide of opinion here (nowt new in that), but for the rough stuff, I\'d go for the 535 every time....it just feels that much more capable than the SLOSH30.
I\'ve got both, but much prefer the 535 for the rocks.
Sometimes replace the 535 with the Slosh for on the beach.

Right Jim ,well I\'ve been thinking about this for a while now and you\'re obviously a man of experience ...as far as fishing is concerned that is lol and I reckon I\'ve got to bow to the Penn fraternaty and give the 535 a shot

I\'ve used a few Abus (borrowed to see what they\'re like)........gotta say, I couldn\'t get on with any of them.

You will get loads of arguments from the Slosh lads lol. As I said can\'t comment on them as I have only had a couple of casts with a mates SL20. It went very well I must say mind.

My lad, Ian has the 525, 525 mag and the Slosh20........all very nice and competent reels......he likes all of them, but prefers his 525mag.

I\'ve treied all of them, but STILL prefer me 535.........I guess personal preference and what you feel comfortable / confident with is a major factor.......THEY\'RE ALL GOOD REELS !

A lad at work swears by his sl20 although I like to fish the rocks as well as the beach and use 30lb mainline so I reckon the sl30 would be better for me or the penn 535 hmm how to decide .. reckon I need to try them first lol ..anyone know of a try before you buy fishing reel service

Steve if we meet up some night you can have a try of my 535 Or and my spare 525. If you want it mainly for rocks would definately go for the biggun though.

Jim.

i persoanlly like the sl20sh the 30 may have a bigger spool but who is going to want to cast 250 yards? 150 yrds of 20lb line will be perfect!

:casstet: I own all the reels and use them as follows- 525 mag for line up to 20lb,slosh 20 for 20 to 25 lb line, slosh 30 for 30-35lb line and 535 for 40lb plus. very little difference in casting distance between 525 mag and slosh but slosh 20 can be filled to the balls with one tiny white block and flies without overrun, 525 can be a pig, one minute fine the next chuck blow up!! Once any of these reels are running fine dont touch them!
