Looking for a new multiplier. not the usual slosh/535 arguement though. When I was in scotland I was plugging/spinning with a carp rod. 11.5 foot, 1 3/4pound tc and a multiplier - a little old shakespeare thing, which has been brill but is past its best, and a few bits have fell off!

so I\'m after something to replace it. small multiplier that casts likely a demon a maximum of 2 ounce or so.

Have to say, and am probably talking oot me starfish again here, that I think using this rather than a FS reel for a fornight has done me casting the world of good - presuming it will translate up to a slosh and 6oz of lead in a month or 2. by the end of the fornight the brake blokes were out, the tensioner fully off and I was giving it some serious welly and getting further with 1 to 2oz toys than I usually get with the slosh and 13foot greys rod! probably wrang tho.

so whats it to be.. I have absolutley nee idea what to look for, except that I\'d rather not go near an abu 5000. Every ABU multiplier I\'ve owned has broken!

abu 5000. Every ABU multiplier I\'ve owned has broken!
ive just bought a 5000 and it casts like a dream much better than my 6500gs
check out e-bay theres been some cracking bargains shimano diawa and penn

Pleased you brought this up Mark I have been after the same for a while.
I bought a small Fladen reel for when I go to Scotland. The trip was cancelled so didn\"t get. Checked the reel out two days ago and it won\"t wind, ( sticking ) back to the shop with it. All I have done is fill it with line.
I fancy a small bait caster but the prices are still through the roof in this country (surprise surprise). I am going to get in touch with my mate in Singapore will let you know the prices mate.

Jim.

want something a bit bigger than a baitcaster, basically because it won\'t hold enough line. Will fill whatever I get with 12 or 15lb. I was getting the best of 150yds with the little shakey.

Try Ebay in the USA,Its chocka blocka with gear if you can be bothered to browse through it all, just check they post world wide before you bid !

Like I said in my post, if youre gooing for one from thr states on ebay, check the postage cost first, I got stung for $42 USD postage, when it came It was stamped $28 dollars.
Try www.askari-fishing.co.uk they will send you a catalogue. I got one, theres some nice reels in it, and literally tons of other stuff, minimum order £30.
DO NOT buy a Penn Roddy.

the ABU 6500 pro rocket could be worth a shot i use one quite often covering a wide range of fishing. havnt got a problem with its strength had some woppers on it

Mark have a look at www.cabelas.com they have loads of small multis etc. keep it under a $100 and you shouldnt be hit for duty.

Shakespeare still make them, there\'s an 2913-312 Alpha and slightly bigger 2913-415 Neptune. Both have magnetic brakes. Discount you should find them at less than £30 each. http://www.shakespeare-fishing.co.uk

From the Svendsen-sports stable, there is an Okuma Halogen with centrifugal brakes at about £60 retail, you should get a discount on that. http://www.svendsen-sports.com

i got two reels off a yank seller off ebay postage worked out at about £8 his id was snook7788 arrived in 4 days im well pleased with them

two fixed spools tony one for spinning and a bigger one for general fishing both look great for the price 10 ball bearings and are solid looking reels

Makes & models ????

I\'m not being finnicky.......just trying to get some possible suggestions for Mark.... ;)

they are made by a company called ningbo i hadnt heard of them but he seems to sell a shed load in the states i think his feedback is in the thousands

ended up buying an okuma nitryx x400. had a shimano, abu and the okuma in me mits and have to say the okuma feels and looks the best build quality, is as smooth as a very smooth thing thats been taking smooth tablets, and was heaps cheaper than the others. It just felt a far better reel than t\'others

did the obvious thing as soon as I got it home and took it to bits and it looks even better on the inside. the build quality is amazing, looking forward to giving it a blast

probably birds nest to buggery, the clutch\'ll snap and the handle will fall off the first time I use now I\'ve said that

Mark i have fished on charter boats with lads that have come out with there new OKUMA reels and after 2-3 snags there gears were screaming, and that was just inshore drifting on the reefs etc, christ knows how they would perform on wrecks etc,i Know its a smaller reel that you have bought, just hope it stands upto the job, might have been a particular model or batch but only time will tell

not gonna be usinbg it anywhere near a boat! Solely for spinning, so hopefully it\'ll be up to the job. It does feel very well built, and internally the gears seem much more robust than the ABU 5000 i\'ve got

only time will tell I suppose.

back up the west coast next month for a week so hopefully it\'ll get well used then!

If not it\'ll end up in my \"I really wish I hadn\'t bought that\" pile which is way too big already
