How easy is this to do? I've got a Penn 9m multiplyer this is my first multi I got to get used to using then etc, want to give it a blast without level wind now as am geting used to it. Cheers
i know on the abu 6500 models its easy not sure on your but im guessing its the same layout
take sideplate off ( think its the other side to handle ) and there should be a large cog that rotates the levelwind spindle with a circlip holding it in place
also on the levelwind eye there is a screw which holds the eye onto the spindle
best taking the spindle and cogs out but remember which way they go as you might want to pu it back on again
sorry it isnt more detailed but its been like over 10 yrs since i done this lol
im sure someone will be to tell you better
hope this is a help to give you an idea
this will involve screwing the level wind off first which has a guide that moves with the worm taking the side plate off there is a small circlip holds the level wind worm in place and the steel hollow tube looking thing you have to slide that out to remove the level wind then reasemble back together
There was 2 screws either side I removed and the level wind come stright off. 2 screws at the bottom which held like a support bracket thing which I've put back on. I think that's all I need to remove?? Not know till I try it tomorrow *Bang* haha
