removing reel seat

just bought a new daiwa bass rod and reel is fixed up the but with duplon grips-----i want to fish down the but with multiplier so whats the best way to remove the seat and grips------will a heat gun do if i heat seat up to soften glue-----cheers------peter

try a hair dryer first heat gun might be too hot

if the heat does not work, try cutting it with a hacksaw , saw in a spiral way half way through and open it with a screwdriver, should split it open.
