Here goes, minima rings I just dont like on my fishing rods yes they can be bent into shape if rod dropped but wont look as good as when first put on plus I just cant believe they dont wear dyamite tip rings wear for me so marine grade 316 stainlees stell will wear if not quicker.

Fuji bnhg rings although very good in there day very robust they look old hat on modern slimmer rods

Black alconites dont like as black look on them comes off very quick making rod look shabby imo unless realy well looked after. Ie putting rod in very soft rod bag.

Polished alconites and kwags -kwags are my fav ring very strong but wiegh slightly heavier than others and slightly priceir, problem been wth poished rings is the discoloration on foot of ring which I have heard quite a few people on about.

So is there a ring a rod ring that is perfect for me or do I just use minimas and just tape them on but summit I dont like to do on my lifting rods.

Bit fussy what you reckon .

John I use polished stainless kwags on century rods and mnags on zippys etc as long as they are sealed in properly with the highbuild and you clean the rod down with clean water discolouration shouldn't be a problem

i have had no probs with black alconites , but as you say a soft rod bag is essential ,along with regular cleaning, and they look great

Just fussy lol:D
Fully agree with u john, minima's 4 me look stunning but imo r awfull, they just groove in no time, got two zzippies with them on,now destroyed.Qt like the alconites but do fade/discolour quickly if not really looked after.Like the kwags tho,may be a bit heavier but only slightly 4 me:)Love the old bnhg's for durability but are just too heavy 4 ultra thin, lightweight rods of today.

No discolouration with tape. Just replace rings as you go. Think miminas are fine except tip rings. Personally hate diamite tips, groove and weigh a ton. Like the sic or alconite ones you whip on seem to stop line getting wrapped around end of rod.

been taping rings on wth neck tape ie butchers tape for yrs and yrs but dont realy recommend for pier cliff top fishing rather have a buildt rod for lifting fish.

in the past i have also used cellouetape to attach rings to rod fished and cast wth this way no prob but dont like electrician tape.
