fished the river on saturday night with my dad we were kept busy all night with small codling and whitling almost a fish a chuck I put a big bait out and after 30 mins without a touch reeled in and felt some weight thought I had picked up some weed till I got in to the side and felt a kick out came a 11/2 lb codling that hadnt even registered a bite on my rod unfortunately it was very deeply hooked so couldnt return it . The best bit of the night was when a bmw pulled in to the car park with a couple looking for quiet spot after about an hr a copper car pulled in next to us and had a bit crack about the cpl in the bmw and what they were up to , now talk about dumb blondes the wpc came out with" I will tell you where you should fish australia " I was on the ball and quickly asked her for directions and how far away it was as I didnt have much diesel , the pc burst out laughing but her face was like thunder and wound her window up I was chuckling to my self all night

nice codling tyne seems to be good latley went on sunday and caught 7 codling, 4 whiting and a decent size flaty (35cm)

the car park next to the schooner pub on the gateshead side deep water within easy casting range and snag free . I used to fish next to the swing bridge but since the boat has gone the mark seems to have gone off the boil and have blanked there a few times moved down river to the schooner and caught

was down there last thrusday if its the same spot go past pub then into a car park,then over fence then down a little grass hill,had 4 out just small ones 2 flaties and 2 little codling:red:

i try that next time,i find it hard trying to cast standing right on the water front lol
