I decided to blow the cobwebs off my bait rod and give Brighams a shot last night fishing from the Spirit of South Shields 9pm to 12.30am. A nice clear night with no wind and flat calm water. Lot's of small knocks from the off and after about half an hour landed a small whiting - just under size so chucked back. The knocks continued and I pulled in half a dozen crabs before coming to the conclusion that it was the crabs doing the knocking :) No more fish were caught but the crabs kept me on my toes and stopped me getting bored. I saw a shooting star too - it went directly over head then burnt out in a shower of red sparks towards the north. So no fish to take home but I did catch some old gear from the bottom and scored for a sinker and a few beads. A pleasant evening all the same.

nice evening you had there..you beat my last catch..i caught 1 crab! lol..and it was a meteor not a shooting star lol (i also dabble in astronomy)..nice things to see as they dont happen very often!

Don't spoil it for him you can't make a wish on a shooting meteor it just doesnt sound right. I wish to catch a big fish..I wish to catch a big fish (is that how it went after you saw it)lol:D

Well done buddy, sounds a decent night, i noticed alot of shooting stars when a was fishing the pier on monday night, didn't bring me much luck like but saved me a blank anyhow, plenty small and sized whiting :).

P.S. matey, the mark u where on is called the angel, brighams, or as i know it 'cogers comer', is the next point that sticks out further doon. ;)

Aye I have heard it called both but went for the official ST council option this time :)

Yeah Pete I have had mixed results there too - lots of blanks but also some good sessions 15+ fish so it's always worth a shot and a nice place to chill out.

Good you saw meteors too Andy , maybe there is one of those meteor shower things going on.
Codgers Corner LOL.

Ano its called that mate, but I and many, many other people just call it the angel as its shorter, and it kinda looks like one too.

Do all angels have there nips oot. :D

Aye it's a lovely spot whatever we choose to call it, even better when you don't want to loose any gear, barring the odd hook in a greedy flounders belly that you need to lose.
