what is the craic with the fishing at the mo? took up this wonderful sport just after the new year and have been bitten real bad! been desperate for a keepy cod(ling) without any success. i presume my time has run out on that front for this year (roll on october!!:D) and cannit wait for the warmer weather and the mackie etc, my problem is i have got to be out there doin it! am startin to chuck the fluff again, which is fantastic fun, but i need the sea air. what do ya target at this time of year and where? i'm floating in limbo at the mo:exclam: oh, am oot sunday and looking for somewhere to go. cheers in advance

Do the fluff chucking on the beach...at least I'm going to be trying to do that at some point this year...even if it's just for macky :D

Snow & Northerly gales on Sunday night. Maybe try the boat station or West Bay/Prom at Whitley for the odd stray codling. April's a dodgy month for fishing (we used to get a "spring run" of codling, but it appears to have died the death). Scratching for flatties is an option but it's better from mid May/June. In the warmer months I sometimes take the bairn to the fish quay & drop a light rod down the side of the quay wall, plenty of small stuff around the wooden piles.

hit the rock and kelp beds mate or even the cliffs, still a good chance of a nice red cod hanging about

Warkworth. Druridge. Embleton. Little hooks and fish strip for bait. You might catch tons of flatties or you might blank and still feel as chilled out and happy as
a pig in poo. :)

Yer Ross is right , March April a waste of time for most anglers. Always fish to catch just not as many or of much size.

I start fishing the 3rd week of April and do well for coalie, sandeels ans so on.
