I know Dunstanburgh Castle has a deep rock mark out the back of it, but is thre anywhere more local to Blyth that has any deep gulleys/drop-off's? Just wondering if a bit wander around the rock edges during the summer with a few lures/floats would be worth a try....

there'es loads of good ones on the west coast of scotland which technically are between craster and the tyne........

if you floow the coast the long way round :D

i certainly think that float fishing and spinning would prove worthwhile if you give it enough time. I used to float fish in the goats gulley at cullercoats and a few more marks around there taking some quite decent codling. Mind that was many moons ago when you could catch codling from the weed beds in the middle of summer. Still think it is worth a go.

Good shout jamcod, havn't tried it myself yet but one of my mates used to love float fishing for Wrasse around the island mate.

Jim.

I was float fishing off the heugh on Mon 23/04/2007 in the vain hope of hitting a mackeral. Did,nt get one but the float went under a couple of times with small coalie around the pier.Entertaining. Also told wrasse around the Heugh. Thats a new one on me.
I was using macky belly for the mackeral and worm for the little coalies.
Much easier than spinning.

another spot i would think is worth a try is hartley Skeer, fish up against the weed beds, have been told by divers there are some very big wrasse around Hartley and St Marys, or even try the very end of West Bay on a calm day. Have heard that there have also been some niice mullett seen in the area, one lad found two decent ones in a net that had been washed ashore, he let them go.

Cheers guys, I'll be trying out a few of those marks, I'll give floats and lures a try and see if there's any result... :-)

you would think crisps gully would attract mackerel there must be plenty of sand eel around there at high tide . jamcod ,
