Alright lads, need some advice regarding rods. I currently using a Kompressor ss but its playing havoc with my dodgy back, can anybody sugest a rod which is still a good all rounder ie rocks, piers and beaches, but not quite as stiff as the Komp, or am I just gettin old and should just take up fly fishing.
Cheers.

to make any difference in changing your rod i can only think a carbon metal or CCC would be easier to bend and give you less backache, but it might be a little under gunned for the rocks ?.. My mate has a CCC and i think he uses it when his back goes off and he needs to go fishing but doesnt let on.

Have you tried changing your casting technique, repositioning your reel seat or changing the Oz's of weight you use mate this all adds to the pressure on your back during the cast before changing your rod, as i found my kompressor ss to be a fantastic rod.

never tried this myself, i once had casting video by john holden and he reckoned the pendulum cast was ideal for some one with a bad back or sat in a wheel chair then promptly sat down on the beach done the pendulem cast and the lead flew out about 150yd, so as said in another reply it might just need changing or adjusting the style of your present cast

john r if you read this could you confirm as am pretty sure it was on that video i gave

Tip Tornado Match

Tip Tornado Match

I've got a Kompressor S and a Tip Tornado Match. The TT is nice & light but can still cast 7oz, not great when really rough conditions though. Can't compare to the SS, but maybe worth considering though

I have the John Holden video and book, they're probably worth a few quid now.
It was actually an Off the ground cast he did sitting down. I tried this method sitting on my seat box and found that I could cast nearly as far as I could standing up at the time. You need a bit more space than usual to cast with this method but I would imagine it being much easier on the back.

Just got rid of an Eliminator which was leaving me in a lot of back pain after a session.Got a few rods but have replaced that one with a Tip Tornado Match and it is so easy to use and casts well.
