any rod builder that can give me a price to remove the reel seat on my penn affinity and put a new movable seat on that I can tape at the bottom of the butt.cant get away with a high reel even with a fixed spool reel,i could try removing it myself but would probs mess it up,would need some shrink tube put on rod where I could tape reel seat in place,i know the decals would get removed in the process but not bothered about that, heres pics and if anyone can do it drop me a pm with a price and I can get the rod butt to you asap
cheers--peter

Hi peter you would be better off doing it yourself mate I.ve done a few lately just get a junior hacksaw and cut the aluminium collars off 1st put abit of masking tape on the metal to stop the blade slipping at 1st then you can cut through the reelseat doing a spiral cut or once collars are off you could get a stanley knife and score down the groove on the reelseat then prize off with a flat instrument but you may find that it is caked with glue underneath I would do it for you but I am really busy at the moment and do.nt know when you would get it back also I would have to order a reelseat as I.m out of stock if in no hurry you could drop it off

Looking at the pics can't see if thier is a guide on the butt section if thier is that would have to come off aswell and be re whipped to fit a new seat

theres no guide on the butt, the new seat would have to come down from the top of the but as there is a bit at the bottom that has weights in and its a bit thicker than the blank itself.ill have to go and try a reel seat to see if one will go on from the top ok plus get some shrink tube.still not sure about doing it myself so I might have to put up with it,its a pain when reeling in with a fish on and the butt between your legs if you know what I mean--lol

ike stan said, junior hack saw or stanley knife and really take your time to make sure you not slip and be surprised how easy they can come off , i have taken 3 off in my time as someon plonker used aral dite on 1 and that was ba**** to take of but still got it off taking my time the other 2 wern;t bad and came off fairly easily as aral dite was not used hope that helps mate

ive taken one off before on a afaw rod but it was a pain trying to do it,the one on this rod looks more blended in and don't want to make a mess of it,saying that I probs still have a go

I had the same rod and took the reel seat off mine. If you can get the reel seat off first by splitting it the collars should just tap off.

Lovely rods with a steely feel, cast 6oz and a big bait and cope well on the rock ends.

its done.lol.got shrink tube ect from lewis tackle.george had a look at the seat and give me advice on getting it off, also said if im stuck give him a bell and he would do it so thanks for that and the advice.took my time and it was ok

just need to put a bit of tape round the top to finish it off
