hi lads i am looking for a new rod it needs 2 bee a rod fo a bit of every thing beaches and mixed ground realy?i am looking 2 spend anything up 2 £400 at a push lol if any one has any ideas could you let me no please cheers

Lot cash, wouldn't you be better getting two rods designed for a purpose rather then one that will do two jobs, better then one that will only be marginal at differing grounds.

got to agree with lowrider I use a greys orion for the beach and a conoflex scorpion match and dc6 for heavy ground .I let my son use the orion off the rocks once and it could not cope, best to use the right rod for the job imho

hi if you live inland one rod maybe best option as you will not know what conditions is like till you get there ,two rods good idea but if you only want to fish 1 rod what do you do with other leave in car to be nicked or take with you to get in way or blown into sea or for someone to stand on. if you live nearerr the sea its easier two rods would work you look at conditions and say i will take that rod down,400pound would buy two very good rods or one exceptional rod or three or 4 good secondhand rods.think of the bait you could buy for 400quid is that not better?????

£400 is a HUGE budget...like the lads have said you could buy 2-3 rods and reels with that kind of money...

there's other things you could buy too - headlamp, waders, warm clothing...

or even a few "specialist" rods for the summer...Carp/estuary rod...decent spinning rod etc...the fishing doesn't have to finish when the Cod move further offshore ;)

the list goes on...I'd be tempted to spread out my budget as far as I could

Different Rods

Different Rods

Hi, for that sort of money you could get two, possibly three rods to cover most aspects of fishing. You could get a rough ground rod, a beach rod and a bass rod all from top manufacturers well with your budget.
Personally if it was me i would have a look at second hand options aswell as you get some quality gear at really good prices. But going down the buying new gear route you could get some serious discount if you bought all the rods from the same place.
For a rough ground rod you could spend nearly all your budget on a Century TTR 'Big Danny', Zziplex LT 14 M4 or Conoflex Anubis + although all awesum rods at over £350 each they are not the perfect allrounder. Depending how often you fish rough ground i would look at some of the cheaper models which are still good such as the Penn Ruffstuff, Abu Suveran XP and Ron Thompson Axcellerator which range between £100-130. Slightly dearer at around £200 you have the Greys Nitra and Apollo but a few bad things have been said about these rods. Then for similar money the Century G5 Supasport and Anyfish Anywhere rock rod are well worth a look at.
The match/general fishing rod is the one i would be tempted to spend most on. A budget of £300 would get a very good Century or Zziplex match rod but there are a lot of options to look at. For £200 i would look very closely at the Century Ccc LD which in my opinion is one of the best rods ever made. The Anyfish Anywhere Big beach and Match would in my choices. For around £260 there are a few general purpose, mixed ground rods which could do the rough stuff such as the Century tip tornado Sport and Carbon Metal Crest.
Final rod is the bass rod, here £100 should get you a nice rod for summer fishing. I would look at the Greys BZe 12'6'' (£90) which is a good piece of kit, the Anyfish Anywhere estuary rod for around £110 and the Conoflex Flattie Fanatic 2000. For a bit more at around you could get a Zziplex Light Bass, Century Tip Tornado Lite or Conoflex FooFighter1 or Conoflex Source which are all top quality. At the cheaper end of the scale the Shakespeare Salt MPV and Odessa Bass along with the Abu Premium Bass all make decent bass/light summerm rods for under £50.
All down to choice really mate but if it was me i would get either one of these set ups;
1. Century WR300 and Greys BZe 3-5oz
2. Ron Thompson Axcellerator, Century CccLD or Anyfish Anywhere Big Beach and a Conoflex Flattie Fanatic
3. Century CMC or Kompressor Sport, Cntury Tip Tornado Lite

A big budget mate and a lot of choice to make. You could get all the rods you really need for this coast out of that budget or spend it all on a top of the range rod. Hopefully this helps you out and shows a few options mate.

ive just got a 14 foot kompressor ss from terry at reelsport cracking rod good bite detection and loads of power from fishing the river to pulling fish from the kelp here is a review of them the one on this the s not the ss both top class rods for the money
