Where is the best bit to fish, as my knees are shot from work and don't fancy the long walk along pier.
Heard that in front of smugglers pub but I had a look this morning at it seems very shallow.
And only other one I no of is between piers at ramp, looks deeper there.?

Is it also long casts or short cast. What rig is best as going to try a hi - low rig.
Baits - rag, blacks mussle,

Mike

hi mike me and my m8 are going to give the other side of roker a go that ramp that goes up to that container café and the toilets you can walk around to sea burn.
I have been down a few times with my dog when the tide is out and also on high tide there are rocks to the left but just sand to the right.
there are some seats so looks a good place to have a few casts if ya got bad knees ,better than shields pier m8 you should loss nowt :D:D:D

I fished Roker beach today right in against the pier to shelter from the wind. Plenty shelter but only one fish, a small flounder.

cheers for the info mate, i was thinking of trying that area i think you are on about the cat and dog steps area. nice and deep there on high tide, looks like ill be fishing low tide as only have a few hours that why way thinking of the bay area after looking at tide times hopefully might get a flatty or plaice i hope

I had a good session behind latimers about 3 or 4 weeks ago, fishing from the beach alongside Whitburn steel. It was at night and fished about 2down, 2up I think.

Had fish every cast, all small stuff though (coley, codling, flounder) nothing bigger than about 25cm but good sport. I was just using small lugworm on size 1 hooks, on a 2 or 3 hook flapper.

that's the place did not know its nick name cat & dog steps, been down a few times to check it out on a sunday walking me dog but never seen any one fishing there  must be a good spot after dark.
was thinking of going there as my m8 has a plate in his leg and he also cant walk a long way and its sheltered from the wind. cost nowt to give it a go
