Roker Crabstick tourney quality fish

Had another tourney on Sunday 11-5 £2 per man .. 12 people in £24 for the winner with the longest fish
Got to the pier about 9.30 with mad rob who was going to target turbot so he said
The pot noodle horn went for the start a few flounders and coalies to start off with then within 1/2 hour rob got a nice bite as he was reeling in he caught cosmic cats line once again lol lol who was in the bunker so he couldn't tell how big it was............
Only a turbot it was a beauty boys

We were all over the moon it was 32cm weighed about 1 1/2 lb it was thick as ....
All day long all we heard was turbot , turbot and more turbot and another for his species hunt
We had coalies, codling, flounders, dabs, scorpion fish, whiting, lobster and eater crabs
It went quiet as the tide went down then Fishingmark pulled in a lovely big plaice of 38cm taking the Leed which soon got put into a bag for don to scran later

Outcast turned up for the comp to nice lad and nice to meet you chris mate

Quite a few off the site young Fishfingers grant and brother James
Then the horn blew to end the tourney with Fishingmark winning his 2nd comp with a massive prise of £24

Me and Codfather 145 not much to show mainly small stuff
I think I will change my name to the scorpion king cos that's all I was catching as I pulled another scorpion fish in a family crowded round . As Fishingmark was unhooking it 1 of them asked are they poisonous which mark replied yes ...... Then as the hook came out he let out a big scream to which they all jumped out the way thinking he had been stung .... We couldn't stop laughing I nearly p...... Myself lol
Well done to mad rob on the turbot and for releasing it and also mark for 2 lovely plaice which 1 was released

Another great day to be out and a better turn out than usual, thanks to all who turned up, more money for me:D:D I was chuffed with the two good plaice but I would have easily swapped both of them for that turbot, what a cracking fish!
I added one to the species list with the scorpion fish but I keep getting plagued by these plaice:)
Mick the "Scorpion King" had loads of them again.
Did you have any luck with the "plaice trace" mate?
Good craic again especially the well dressed maccy bashers:D
Looking forward to ssp next week, though I don't have much luck in the comps there. Hope there's another good turn out.

I learned something new while out on Roker yesterday, the pen trick to unhook the flatties, worked every time. What a clever idea and so simple. I'll always have a pen with me from now on.
 
well done lads that turbot is a beauty :) south shields club have a match next sunday on the pier as well so it should be packed :) hope to meet a few of yous
 
yeh good day wish I had more time to stop longer but dinner called.
it was my father in laws lines crabby was catching all the time,
I could not stop laughing at his rigs with all the spoons on lol, that was till he was pulling them in and I got a nibble that was it but good day all, he still says it was the spoons that got you the turbot rob lol.
 
he phoned me today laughing saying the spoons win again as he pulled in a 2lb or 2.5lb whiting in on them lol.
im making a spoon rig for sunday hehehe
 
Push the pen into the fishes mouth parallel with the hook, hold the line against the pen with one hand, spin the fish and it drops off the hook. Honest it works.
 
How lads love readin your posts you obviously have a great time, and that's what it's all about keep it up might join you's one day
 
Cracking day with a great bunch of lads was good meeting you all and will deffo be there on sunday to win my £2 back lol
Lmao @ eating soup with a fork...was it turbot soup haha
 
Sounds like a great day lads and a good report well done on the turbot and the plaice I'll come down one day when I'm not working or playing golf now summers finally arrived
