i had one from a mark down hendon ,it was weighed on crappy scales 8.5lb next day from fishing republic spring scales lol ,what ya recon a doubler or what

Definitly a doubler.:), them spring scales are normally s**t for being accurate, looks bigger than my 9lber so i definitly say a double.

The fish had eaten 2 small crabs, 1 x 4inch diameter crab (whole), a prawn and a couple of luggies. The big crab was wholly intact. Think I'll up me hook sizes lol

really nice looking fish there jimbob. i am going to try and get down early in the week and hopefully get my first doubler. did it have any roe in it

forecast- wind wise looks good for next week with North winds forecast, might be a few more good fish taken.

I'm going to have a few hours in the bay between the ratty and pier tonight. I think it's a bit early since the northerlies are forecast for the weekend but I've got nothing better to do.

Jimbob,

Thankyou for the sea state reports they are great and congrats on the cod, once in a life times, similar to my recent catch of 4 off the trot for about 13 lbs, as I am relatively new to sea angling and not the most successful. I am a bit confused why you distinguish betweern appearnce etc. In relation to to shopping in the angling shop in suites (do it all the time) I am sure that this is more common than you think and is not a symbol of affulance/ achievement, or a weekness amongs the fishing community. I hold a mangerial position with numerous employees big 5 bed detached etc. and love the craick with the lads whom incidentally seem to do better than me, financially!!! oh and I even send my wife suit et'al (solicitor!!) in to the shop for me worms.

Not a dig but you should understand that there is no stigma amongst the lads who i have met in terms of jobs etc. In fact I have helped one pal obtain more tax relief and he helped me get a cheap car what more could you ask for?

I also enjoy fishing alone, sometiimes, but have met some great lads through clubs etc. who make the nigh so much fun and educational.

Take care m8, maybe one to many stella so dont take offence.

Aye nee problem, congrats on the fish....That's my point - there is no stigma, just good crack! Never had any bother at all and its all tongue in cheek. I couldn't give a damn what I wear when I buy me bait but one things for sure, 99 out of the 100 lads divn't gan in the shops looking like I do during the week!! Just a bit of me story that's all. Can we wife swop?
