Wanting to start fishing south of the tyne and like the look and sound of roker pier never fished there before so any advice on tides and timewill be most welcome thanks lads

you want try fish a small tide coming in, during dusk to darkness.

Round end - bomb store and first curve are best marks

avoid the stretch between the 2 sets of stairs as this is snaggy both sides. But - there is a kelp bed on the river side that if you dont mind lossing a few rigs, produces good cod.

The area known as the barrier is a good shot but very tackle hungry, and best fished with a lot of movement on. The best fish i have seen taken on Roker Pier have always been took from around this shot. Also opposite the second post (seaward side) is around the start of the rock edge and has produced some decent codling, but try to fish it when there is plenty of movement. The beach north of Roker Pier is a decent low water shot and also the Cat & Dog steps when the sea condition is right. Be careful on the ramp section though when its really big. Hope this helps

Hi lads,
often thought about fishing Roker, but I have heard it can be a bit dodgy on car parking?
Any advice would be appreciated as I would like to give it a go !

1) 2nd life buoy from the gate 60 yard lob 2hrs either side of HW E or SE dying swell (rotton bottoms), 2) 17 posts up from the 2nd life buoy again 2hrs either side of HW dying E or SE swell 40 yard lob (rotten bottoms), 3) patch of concrete about 10 posts down from the barrier post in the seaward side need a sea running or a dying sea 30 yard cast again use rotten bottoms this mark can fish good any state of the tide i like it 3hrs either side of LW ,4) barrier post exact same as the last mark but ground is slightly rougher, 5)12 posts up from the barrier post 50 yard cast sea running or dying sea, 6) first set of steps into the bay: Big tide (5m plus) last 4 hours of the flood dying SE/E/NE sea or when its flat but not as good as it is after a sea, rotten bottoms 60-100 yard cast will catch you fish (expect to loose gear), 7) in between the first and second steps into the bay, medium tide fishing the flood dying SE/E/NE sea clean/mixed ground does fish when its flat, 8) opposite the last mark into the seaward side is a mark known as the tire mark this can produce fish in any sea or state of tide expect to loose gear,9) second steps into bay small tide, on the flood clean to mixed ground, 10) opposite the second steps into seaward side very rough ground.. fishes best on the ebb, 11) the round head, big tide = first 2 hours and last 2 hours of the flood. small tide = any state of the tide sea running or after a sea for cod that is .... this is just how i fish the pier people will fish the pier differently to me but this is what i find best, good luck :) arran

Roker pier

Nice one Arron the lads couldn't expect better info than that, good on you for sharing young man.

Caught my best shore fish to date from 2nd steps seaward side, 5lb Pollock. Didn't find the ground too rough either, certainly better than a lot or marks on SSP. Never done much good on Roker since but many thanks for the advice in this thread.
