Roker pier only fishing on one side.

I'm sure this has been answered many times before so I apologise in advance if I'm going over old ground.

Why does everyone only fish on one side of the pier, are the other railings cursed or something. :)

I've asked on the pier and have been told that there are no fish that side.

Unless the fish are climbing out and taking a stroll to the yacht club then jumping back in, I'm inclined to think that there are fish, it just seems strange that one whole side is not being used.

ive seen this at sevral places sometimes it can be a differance in ground type water depths ect but mainly its just die hard tradtion ive been at whitby on a night where everyone was fishing off the seaward side and not catching i cast into the harbour and bagged up on codling and whiting funny thing is that one guy tryed to tell me that i wouldnt catch doing that not only did i prove him wrong but i was the only one to catch at all that night sometimes going against the flow is worth a try but i mainly stick with what the others are doing

always worth a cast in the bay side preferably with a nice s/e swell coming in but also known when flat some lunkers turn up there are rocky areas and kelp beds close in

Many an angler won't venture past the 1st set of steps chucking into the bay.

I have fished roker pier for many years and both sides do fish.if it is an eastly wind you will get fish out of the harbour

a good shot is the first steps, and half way from the gates to the first steps.
also from the second steps to the end fish the half way mark but a good cast is needed to get into the channel.
