Roker pier restoration

Alreet everyone.

I'm sure I've just heard on the radio at work that they are starting work to restore roker pier on Monday? Is that right and if it is will the pier be closed till its finished? If it is I'm gonna have to try shields pier. Never fished there before so it'll be a change of scenery.

Cheers toonboy. They mentioned the lighthouse was getting work done as well. I think the best way to find out will be to go down n have a look. Unless I find somewhere else this weekend while I'm avoiding the airshow.

It's just the light house they will chain it off but if people climb over they will shut the whole pier.

That's why they use that chain cos they are skint now spent all

They properly stuffed the ratty for fishing. I don't know why they didn't just put a decent railing on it instead of just fencing it all off. I used to get loads of whitey off there in winter when I was a youngun.

They've got no money cos they've spunked it all on them daft wooden domes. They are meant to have cost 170k each!!!! Idiots.

I have heard that they are going to repair and renovate the old pier, as they were waiting for funding to do it, it was included in the total budget to fix roker lighthouse, pier, and seafront, the reason it was fenced off is because they originally fenced off the end which was collapsing, in order to allow fishermen to still fish off it, but a section of the pier sunk and collapsed about twenty foot from where the new fence gate is, I am normally first to curse unnecessary closing or far too strict rules at fishing marks, but I have to say in this case, after seeing what had happened myself, they were bang on to close it.
