Roker Pier, Today

Does anyone know if the pier is open today? I'm looking to head down there this afternoon but i'm not sure about the strong winds that are being talked about on the news

Any advise would be great

pier still open 4.30

went past about 5,quite a big south easterly swell building a few on the end starting to sh't there pants and a few on the barrier catching some fish hopefully.It amazes me when the pier is shut when flat and as soon as the sea picks up they forget to shut it.
