Spent a very pleasant 5 hours fishing around the first gate area. My target was to catch a plaice. Started fishing about 1.00pm. Used two rods : one at distance, and one shorter. Baits were fresh dug ragworm and fresh crab and a couple of whiteworms.
In five hours fishing with two rods, I only got the one bite. However it was indeed a plaice, but only of a modest size (just under 1lb). It was caught at distance on ragworm.
Despite the lack of bites a very enjoyable afternoon indeed. The wind did pick up quite a bit later on in the afternoon, but it was almost from behind, so it didn't spoil things.
Bumped into Waco Nice to meet you mate, and very good of you to share your years of knowledge about the pier.
Only downside to the day was having to "suffer" the queues to go north through the tunnel.
*First attempt at uploading photos, so hope it's 'worked'

Well done on the sesh mate.

Are you sure waco spoke years of experience, which he has, but in an everylasting long long... long conversation!!:D Just kidding, waco is a very good friend of mine, has seagulls perched on his shoulders hes down there that much, that's his second home that pier. You get plenty of good advice mate.

Again, well done.:)

P.S. the pics worked fine, but showed up very small, hard to see...ish:confused:

Lucky you got one at all, the dredger has been working from the pier ends upto the ferry landing for 2 weeks now and the water is rank, plaice wont like that at all.
