sainsburys fish counter

Wow that's crazy money !

It just shows , scare mongering about fish stocks and the fact that it's really good for you and it's en vogue means price hike time.

Mrs B is in plaster so I had to accompany her shopping this evening, I was appalled at the fish counter at Morrisons, macky £8.36 per kilo :o I was trying to work out in my head how much a string of 6 would be worth :D

On the plus side got some nice pork pies for boaty brekkie :D

A Kilo = 2.24lb approx , 6 maki at approx 1lb2ozs = approx 3 kilo x £8.36 = £25 approx by my reckoning, if those prices are right no wonder there is so many maki bashers taking bagfuls of maki

A chavs white carrier bag full of macky caught in the morning on a blistering day off of blyth pier then carted back home in the evening, left overnight on the kitchen bench and ate the next day will probably taste fresher than the stuff you get at some supermarket fish counters.

spare a thought for the guys that land the stuff. just looked at the caley prices for peterhead this morning - where the supermarkets buy a lot of their fish

cod from £2 a kilo, whole haddock £1 a kilo, coley £1 a kilo, plaice 80p a kilo and mackeral 1.40 a kilo

that some mark up the supermarket boys are getting. fuel costs have double in a year or so but the fish prices have hardly moved
