Saltburn Pier

Hey people, was wondering if you reccommend fishing saltburn pier this evening, going out with my dad, just wondering if you think it will be fishing alright?

Thanks , me and my dad aint the best fishermen in the world, in fact, my best is a 1lb codling , just the other night my dad got a 1.7lb bass

the bigins will come mate and then you will be the best fishman in the lol thats what i tell myself every time i go down our lass catchs more than me going to leave her in house next time i go downlol

haha, gonna get a new rod and reel for xmas, got any recommended?

yeah thanks mate, just a quick question, im having trouble holding the bottom most nights, and my rod is constantly bouncing due to the waves, it gets me so frustrated when i cant tell if theres a bite or not, got any suggestions?

- im using a harbour reel with 25lb red ice and 80lb shock leader and just a cheap 12' rod

yeah that could be the problem, i am thinking of getting a Greys rod with an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6500, also i have plenty of grippers, but dont know what the sea will be like tonite

Welcome to NESA mate - loads of threads about rods and reels in the shore fishing section...have a ganders

As to catching Cod/Codling I'm only on 2 myself this year (from the shore)....the season is only young and there's loads of time yet

....and if I'm honest this is my first "serious" years fishing too LOL

2 this year!! now many you get last year like lol

i fish saltburn very reguarly usually every wkend, at the minute its fishing very well lots of codling turning up and some excellent bags of 2lb whiting, friend of mine has had a 7 1/2lb thornback ray, 2 1/2 doggie ( first one off there in 5 yrs ) and sml turbot in the last mnth and half off there and hes only been fishing since beginning of october. try and fish the end of the pier if u can but be wary of big tides and strong winds can kick up some big waves and come over the top. if u cant hold bottom with grip leads try leaving a bit of slack in yrline usually helps stoppin yr lead pul out and moving about. im hopin to be fishing saltburn again this sunday all being well so pm if yr goin and will try and help you out on pier best i can.
