hi all im after some advise.
currently i fish with a century carbon metal express and a mag 525. i also have a second rod century ignitor and a slosh 30. i have been fishing for a few month now and distance and fishing knowledge is improving vastly, still a lot to learn though.im thinking of buying a saltist 20 or 30 but dot know which one if any to buy. i fish locally souh shields pier, river, beech, but hope to venture out further.my question is this will the saltist 20 have enough grunt for these areas, and is it a good bait casting reel?
i know the saltist 30 is for rough ground so ive been told, so should i stick with a bigger robust reel such as the saltist 30.my own opinion is i like the saltist 20 as a baitcaster.
well lads im after advise on the pros and cons of both, and should i indeed bother buying one.

mark in the right hands you can bang a bait out a long way on the 20, and its a robust rough groundish reel, but why not save some cash and buy an sl20 it will do the same job

ive the slosh 20 shv m8 and i use it for over rough ground.ive owend the salist 20 and 30 and they feel a bit tinny to me also the drag star on them seem to go on them to!! and the mark really easily aswell ide stick with the slosh shv 20 0r 30 as they are bomb proof m8 and they are a good casting reel aswell cant fault them either

standard sl20 and 30 are too agriculture for me but the SL20 or 30 sha or shv are canny they cast well thanks to the speedshaft design. The saltist works similar but the gear box is slighty inverted so they sit lower on the rod, easier to get your thumb over so they say. If you gonna use upto 20lb line go for the 20 size reel if your gonna use 25 and over go for the 30 the guts are the same just one has bigger line capacity so in theory they are as strong as each other. However I did see someone winch a fish up the pier with a saltist 20 and the threads on the drag stripped and the drag would not tighten anymore needed a new part common fault on early models so I heard.

i agree with you davey m8 i had the 20 and 30 saltist and on both reels the grag star had stripped them selfs ;)

i have the saltist 30 i just like to say it is the best reel in have used yet and i have gone through a few reels trying to find the right one. I had the star drag go on it took it back to the shop and it was fixed within 10 mins. But the new ones do not have the star drag problem

i know what you saying m8 but you dont want to keep taking reel bk all the time to be getting fixed i think its down to a poor desing thats my opinion ;)

apperently it was design fault on the earlier saltist's and diawa solved the problem and as far as i know i have not seen anymore faults from them

cheers lads for advize youve all created another dilema now. i never thought about the slosh 20 will look at that on days off and decide. thanks for all advise. cheers:D
