Well when it gets to the Friday i just about always have my mind made up if i will give it a go or not on the bat but this one has got me.

Winds very strong today and sea is rough but over night the winds dropping to a straight west wind with 12-14mph west winds Sat, met says sea mod maybe slight for a time.

Do i dont i? taken family out so dont want it to be a wasted trip for them as its a 30mile drive to the mariner for them.

6-7 weeks left of the season i would say based on last 2 years boat fishing catch reports.

What to do what to do????

I've got my boat at home for a clean up , I can't even get that done for the poxy weather never mind take her out fishing. I brought her home last weekend and have hardly started cleaning yet. This weekend looks like it might be dry enough to get her sorted and back in the marina , but I'm not looking to get out till at least Monday night by the weather forcasts. Lets hope it all settles down at least for a while and we can get some proper fishing done before the macky head off and the winter sets in.

I am waiting for the 7pm update then taken it from there...think i be out both days but cant view web cams at the moment for some reason.

longsands not looking too bad at the moment on the cam, whitby a little chopier but that is on the west cliff so will have a bit more on that cam.

sunday still looking the best for the weekend

Yer i am banking on Sunday sea wise but may need the water proofs, bigger gusts on Sunday upto 28mph but av wind 10mph all from the west.

Sat is 50/50 at this point waiting for the 7pm sea update.

22 mph Norwesterly wind today which will bring big swells tomorrow and maybe even early Sunday. Saturday will be unfishable until after 11am I reckon so we have cancelled our party.

Sunday is a definate maybe.

by my money saturday is unfishable...so sunday will be your better day...so if any of you get out I wish you all good luck as I'll be esconced in non-fishing type activities (namely seeing me dear old mum)

I am not a fan of cams myself as they can be deceiving. A strong westerly won't show it's effect on any web cam. Once you get a mile off though you will be surrounded by white caps :o

I'd rather use xcweather for a current picture of what's going on.

understand your comment - i made my cam comments in isolation to all the other bits and pieces that go together to have a safe trip.

as alan says dont just go by what you see close in, but look at what is forcast later in the day also what has gone on else where ie a big blow from the north east off norway will eventually hit us with a swell if no wind to knock it down.

if in doubt dont go out.

Sea not that bad to be honest just got back from Marsden, same Sunday with lighter winds so should get a full day Sunday :)

We need a a good run of weather to let us get to them big ling and let everyone with money tied up in the sport a chance to bag abit to see them through the winter months of little income.

its our summer its become winter , what summer did we have ? apart from may, i,m looking to get out next week more changes than Mr Ben

Certainly looks ok next week Keithm................

For the first time in many months there is going to be (forecast anyway) a whopping big "High" sitting over the UK ......... well thursday anyway :)

Since winds circle a high in a clockwise direction and the general system moves from west to east this means that probably wed will see some northerly winds on the leading edge of the high pressure area before it engulfs us and the wind dies off (hopefully this will last through till next weekend) :)
Of course this is only from forecast information and it could all well change :( ......

Good luck if you get out  we`re gonna give it a go on Sunday (whoo hooo thats tomorra)

Watch here to see it build (lol then compare this snapshot next week with what actually happens ... :) )

You should have taken notice at school Charlie , Richy is simply worried that the charter skippers might be having a hard time of it lately with all the weather cancellations and hopes they can get a few good days in before the onset of winter . ;)
