9 anglers today ready for a nite trip from 1-30pm to 7-30pm fishing a new mark just off the reef we drop anchor around 2 oclock just in time for the tide within 15mins the first cod came in around 5lbs as the day went on still catching as nite fall came fishing got better cod come in from 4 half lbs to 5 half lbs, bout an hr before the flood a very good cod came up to 16lbs taken on black lug fall to local angler steve wilson from redhouse, most anglers bagging up to 9 cod using black lug and crab,

I was one of the crazy guys who spent their Sunday on boat at freezing point and in utter darkness !

It was worth every effort.

Despite the slack high was in the middle of the trip, we caught well before and after that.

To me it seemed that all bait worked and I had 5 cod mainly on squid and cart.

It was a very jolly atmosphere and Peter, I expect this to be a very popular and successful method during the winter in Sunderland.

On top: What a scenery that was....in darkness....the moon came up...the lights of Marsden, Whitburn and Sunderland. It was magic

Were you on the sapphire ?

Works on it i think.

Good to see fish still comming in, winter fishing is not for me at all but fish to be had on the rough stuff and odd wreck thats for sure.

Cracking result there Sapph33, Keep this up and you will be on to a winner as the lunkers are not here yet as they supposedly come in to spawn around Febuary.

It is good to see and the more trips you do the better it will become, i just hope you keep getting a good supply of anglers to keep it going, Whitby used to do uptiding years ago then they went off it now its all the rage again and growing each year, it will be great to see that the North east ports can be fished all year round with great results.

I will be having a go when i get the boat back in the northeast.

Its great to see other ports now doing the uptiding the northeast has probably the best cod fishing on the mainland if you like shore fishing uptiding is the next best thing it great sport catching quality fish in shallow water i have been doing it for over 20 years now out of whitby its what you call a chilling out method of boat fishing you just never what you are going catch next.

we had a crack at it last winter, and hopefully this one too, if i ever get out:rolleyes:

i'm pretty sure jim is running winter uptiding trips over the winter too,
