Sapphire shines 8/8/15

I managed to get a pair of late spaces on Sapphire after my usual skipper (North Star) was booked out the weekend with all the fish hes been catching!!. Due to a new job, lots of training and lots of travel…Ive barely got out this season and I really wanted to dip the line with the glorious weather and a free weekend so was happy to get out even if it meant traveling up to Roker.

Muppets, daylights and other traces seemed to be useless on the day…as did bait, even the reliable ripper wasn’t doing anything but on went the shad and the cod loved it. All colours doing the job, I personally stuck with blue on the day.

Plenty of cod all round but a full days wrecking meant a lot of tackle loss and whilst I was sticking another shad on for our Nathan he pulled in a nice ling (on my rod he was holding :D) which turned out to be the best ling of the day and leading the sweep. Unfortunately for Nat he was pipped by another lad’s cod and best fish of the day at 8.5lbs - 9lbs

First time out of Sunderland on the boat since I was a kid and a good day out

I go out on the sapphire when I can as just started back boat fishing two months ago, normal just do the 4hr trips hard ground or inshore wrecks depending on the weather.
I tend to use squid mussel and fresh mackerel and prawns added to muppets
always found peter and michael to be spot on with help and advice on rigs and bait to use on the day , peter tries very hard to find fish for the lads on board
I have had a few fish over the last two outings only had one poor day but thats fishing cant win them all.
I enjoy my time out out sea on the sapphire good crack and banter with lads on board and the sapphire crew
