i cant wait once again lol, i hope the weather stays the way it has been until monday or after, a new bloke to the forum called homecall got on the boat for the 30th and im looking forward to meeting him..we should have a good day out especially if the sea stays as calm as it has been for the past few days...

dunno if this weather report is right but what do you rekn about the weather for monday lads ?

Henda it looks like light south east for Monday try looking on

The best way to find out about the weather is walk to Tynemouth point and toss a leaf in the air. The weather has been wrong 3 out of the last 3 boat trips for me, total waste of time and if you really want to go mad, view a few web sites stating the weather and it will be everything from rain to heat wave.

The met have changed the direction and wind speed at least twice a day since Sunday, i know as i have been looking every morning and lunch time.

Good luck on Monday anyway, if we make it out i will try and leave you the odd fish :0)

Skinner is doing ok, rang him before...nothing big but lots around 3lb-6lb mark (cod) and a few better ling.

Long range weather is light ESE winds, if they stay light or they swing south or west you will be ok, anything from the east and your in trouble and the north puts a large lazy roll on.

Its ages away monday but it looks ok so far, i am out on Sat and am not sure myself yet, winds been South then NW and now WNW and the speed has gone from 2 mph to 20mph and back down again in the last 3 days...i think i will get up and spit into the wind, if it hits me in the face i will go back to bed

Personally I never worry about anything that hasn't got an E in it.

Also if it is changing rapidly which is the case at the moment with variable winds it isn't too bad as the sea does not get time to build up a swell.

But welcome to the fun of boat fishing...you dont know if its on till you phone the skipper in the evening before or even on the morning of the trip

Aye Dave, thats exactly right, leave the decision till last minute

often we small boats get out where the charters have cancelled the day before , because we CAN wait till the last minute.

Out of interest and I know the weather HAS been bad of late but .... forcasts are becoming more and more on the bad side of the truth (no one complains to the weather men if it`s a better day than they forcast so they all play it a little bit in the pocket).

So if its a maybe, maybe-not by the forcast it`s usually ok , also, the forcast weather invariably seems to hit us a little late, possibly cos we`re on the east and the winds are predominatly westerly therefore the weather patterns hit mid country first, but if you see a windy day forcast for 4 days time (at the coast) it`ll not be here till 5 days ...... virtually every time. So when I check Sat forcast out during mid week I`m usually more interested in what Friday is supposed to bring..... because sat forcast will hit on Sun or Mon ....

I earn my living by watching the weather forecast and have done for 13 years.

They can only give generalisations even now with mega computers.

What we are getting at the moment is effectively spring weather in summer as the stream of high pressure from the azores has not moved up north as it would normally at this time of year. So we get a series of lows and highs giving swirling winds and plenty of showers ( some a bit heavy from what a mate down south told me )

What you say about small boats is so true. i dont mind nipping out at 2pm for a few hours as opposed to a charter skipper who has to commit for a full day. I also quite enjoy nipping inshore under the shelter of the cliffs, dropping a hook and fishing for bits ...whilst listening to the charter boats on the radio running for port cos the paying customers expect to be out 5 miles. This is something that has happened so many times whist out from whitby last year.
