Scotland for cod

Mate of mine had to cut his fishing trip early due to the weather
& still managed to land 5 fish into the high double figures (so he reckons lol) all full to the brim with roe,
He reckons Arbroath is not a patch on this place
Has anyone else fished this place it's called kinlokbervie & I've looked at how far away it is & definately more than a weekend away
It's a long way to go if it's crap

Hi Tony,
I,ve never fished there but I've been there a few times touring on my bike. It doesnt take that long to get there, 6 or 7 hours, but like you said it's along way to go if you blank! Beautiful scenery up there, do you know exactly where your mate was fishing? Might be worth a weekend trip.

Did he say Lochalsh? There's a fair distance between Kinkichbervie and the Kyle of Lochalsh.

Kinlochbervie is almost 400 miles from Sunderland. Never fished it but I would be surprised if it threw up Cod, Pollock maybe, but high teens!?

Rule of thumb is east coast for Cod, west coast for Pollock, but as you know I am no expert!!

Many marks on west hoy cod put , wasn't that long ago people use to talk about balcony for big cod also mull too in winter months

Hmm... I wouldn't be surprised actually. It IS a North Atlantic coast remember, & there's some big Cod in the North Atlantic! Never fished that far up myself either, & RAC says It's 7hrs 22mins from Newcastle without stops. Not a weekender for me.

Edit, saying that, I have driven up to Torridon for a weekend to ride mountain bikes!

I'm sure he said loch clash but my memory ain't what it used to be!!
I'd like to see some photos which he reckons he has before I head up there
Fished oban loads & that's just borderline of being too far for me
So it would have to be worth it before I went up,
But fishing being fishing he could well have had 10 good fish in one session but the next day could be a different story
