Hi, further to my OP, if you fancy easy fishing onto hard ground, St Andrews pier can be a decent shot in winter. Low water,there are two sewage pipes going out at right angles to the harbour wall, encased in concrete, these give access to the deep gullies that run parallel to the harbour wall ,casting along these gullies into the kelp, crab or worm here. High water shot on the pier,either straight out from the end, or casting at 90 degrees from the pier, there is an area of broken ground that can hold fish especially in rough weather. Watch out for feckin students that can be a pain at times!! Google maps gives a good satellite view of the marks mentioned
