Vamp, I think you will find the first pic to be the fly that nodrog introduced to this forum.
I did exactly the same as you and came up with scuds being shrimpish, anyway gordon sent me some freebies(very nice may I add) and they are the same as the first pic on your post.
Hope this helps, no doubt you will get the true answer shortly.

seddo

Thx Seddo for the reply, was just a bit odd as every time i checked a site out it was of the bottom pics.and didnt know if i had the right sort

Vamp, top pic is what gordon is calling his scud.
The bottom pic is a shrimp pattern known by the name of scud for a long, long time.

90p is a bit steep.

that top un is definately no scud I've ever seen

have a look at the scud variants on patternindex

everyone I ever seen (and tied) has been a shrimp variant

as for 90p each :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

Thx for the advice people :)
Asked around a few places for them and now one seem to now about them apart from ID so was only place to buy and the price,i was a little :o:o,as i thought flys where around 60p each depending on what you were wanting that is.
But still looking forward to trying these out next week not sure where to go yet.
And thx for the site mark now i might find out what some of the flys are in my box.

well ive bought a load of them
90p isnt that expensive when you think of the £400 and over you pay for your rod and £300 you pay for your reel
why scrimp on what catches the fish

i fished sharpley last friday slow at first then a netted a fish for a lad he,s pb 11lb.He gave me a fly nearly identical to that but cats whisker colours he had been hooking fish all morning as soon as i put it on the results wre instant 20mins later and i land my pb rainbow 12lb. absolute deadly fly had to be fished very very slowly on a floating line for best results:D

4th one down looks good for our waters
the trout in north east cant resist olive
the good old dawsons olive produces time after time

lads, the flie is my own tying and i had to come up with a name. i called it a super scud not knowing there was already a shrimp pattern with that name. sorry for the confusion. i have no control over the price at i.d but i had them at the nissan show for 50p. selt like hot cakes. some back ground for those that dont know. i invent new patterns which are tested by 10 top anglers in the north east. they try out the lures, buzzers and nymphs over the course of a year! we then eliminate the flies that catch the least. top fly this year was the scud, the year before, the burl ives, year before the dinky do. now i know you wont recognise the names apart from the scud,[ my fault]. by binning the flies with least success you increase your chance of catching after all our research. nice story from higham lake. a chap had 25 fish on one of my rainbow buzzers and a fellow angler had caught nothing.; what you catchin on mate, the lad told him and where he bought it from[i.d] he went into the shop ranting about how got the rai9nbow buzzer was but refused to pay the 90p even though his day ticket was 20 quid. he stormed off to the pub, had a lager 2pound 40 when he could have bought 2 buzzers. beer aparantly is better than a full day wasted!

Gordon, name not really important, easy to think of a name and find out later it already exists.
I know only to well about this, i called one of rods by the name of Longbeach only to find the name was the same as a penn longbeach reel. I knew about the reel but in my ignorance i thought because mine was a fishing rod and named Reelsport Longbeach it wouldnt matter, how wrong i was, i got threats from penn solicitors who forced me to change the name to Response.
Lucky for you Scuds not a registered name for a fly.
The important thing is the fly catches fish and at the end of the day the name aint gonna change how it catches.

you can buy ian barrs flies for between one pound fifty and two pound fifty each, yes each, if you like, but they dont work in northern waters. i do plenty flies for anglers in the north east and they come back with repeat orders because they know the effort thats been made to ensure there giving themselves the best chance of catching. tip. keep a diary of each fishing trip, date wheather, location, best fly, flies used etc. at the end of the year tot it all up and keep your ten best patterns. this way your giving yourself the best chance each year. ive got it down to about 6 lures, 6 buzzers, 3 bloodworms, 6 nymphs. of course youll get the day when a pink/blue thing works, but give yourself the best chance by using the patterns that have come top of your list over the year. makes sense! all those 15mins used with something thats useless add up. i.d has some of my patters but not all. no, i dont know everything, and there are better anglers than me, but if i can pass on some tips that were passed on to me and lt helps dont knock it.

thanks

thanks

cheers yours truly. at the beggining i called it a super scud because it resembled a scud missle in shape. anyway call them what you like they work and lots of lads trying them have had success. have to think about names in future, but my other flies such as burl ives and dinky do havent appeared on flie sites so at least those names are ok! good fun trying to come up with names. s...e is agood one for all the flies that dont work!
