cleadon sea angling club

Sless you beat me to it! Just bought it today and saw they're mess up! hope they dont make the same mistake with mine next year...

i wonder if total sea fishing make the same mistake

it is annoying especialy when two people
put the name to the sea angler
terry patterson emailed them and i spoke to the deputy editor
and they still got it wrong

I sent in a subscription form for one year from last months magazine. If i subscribe for one year i get a free okuma spinning reel.

Still waiting for the magazine and the reel.

Also sent them a photograph of a lad catching an 11 pounder couple months ago off the Heugh. This is the biggest fish all season around Hartlepool as far as i know.
Magazine has,nt bothered printing anything (wondered why i bothered, still is it in this months. Will i ever find out!).

Mick.

Is Sea Angler still littered with page after page of adverts?

I used to subscribe to it many years ago but the amount of articles and news reports for the North-East were so thin on the ground that I rapidly lost interest, got a bit sick of seeing Chesil (spelling?) Beach on the front cover constantly too!

Sless - if you point any mistake out to them, nicely, I'm sure they'll print a correction. Mistakes happen in print. They happen on websites, but it's easy to correct articles when they're on websites.

Matchman,

I understand.

Wish the reel and Magazine would hurry up. Have you any connections at Sea Angler hq.

Mick.

I spend about £4 million quid on Trout and Salmon because it is very good.

I found the "correct way to cuff your manservant" article really useful, along with the "101 ways to drown your ghillie for failing to deliver fish and shagging the lady of the house"

Haven't read the mag for years so I don't know if it's changed at all. But...

How about running regular spotlights each month on a different stretch of coast, but small sections at a time rather than trying to cover say the entire North-East as one article. Something along the lines of breaking the mould (sinker making pun there!) and trying new tactics/methods, people regularly ask on here about lure fishing etc on our coast and what about targetting different species here too. How about articles that do away with flash expensive brand named kit and get back to showing kids that they can have a bit of fun with a handline or £1 shop plastic rod?

how about printing a few more match dates this months mag doesnt even print dates till after next months mag is out.

Don't forget that mags are working on issues 2/3 months ahead.
You send an article, idea, picture in and often the next issue will be done and dusted and possiblly at the printers.
Have to think like that and be patient.

I forgot to say i subscribe to Sea Angler and buy TSF.
All mags have ads,if they didn't the cost would be higher and people would whinge about that.
Despite many anglers saying they are full of the same old same old i have learnt loads from them, not everyone has years of knowledge to draw on and everyone has to learn.
I simply look on it if you don't like it don't buy it,or read it at the shelf then moan about it. lol.

There are a few interesting bits in there still and they are trying to put a few more north east articles in. They did a feature on the Whitby boat festival last summer and have asked for an article of this years spring festival. I know there is an article coming up on shore fishing at Hawsker (how do I know ? I nearly killed the photographer when I dropped my bag off the top of the cliff and it landed near him 200 foot below - long story that one.).

Shame they haven't printed anything about the licence issue and the marine bill though, although I see TSF have got quite into this story.

Also a shame they charged The Bass organisation £2000 to put an article in about the bass management plan.

Still worth a read from time to time though.

Magazine prices here in the UK are becoming a joke though, the only current magazine I subscribe to is MAD magazine - I get it shipped from the US every month and a 2yr subscription was barely £20...

i used to buy sea angler every edition, however in the end it got to be far too many adverts and now tsf is going down the same road, the boating reviews are reviewing boats that are out of the question for the majority of readers price wise, yeah nice to look but you could say the same about the penthouse, you read the articles and you never see anyone saying they used anything but the latest horizon caster, a newbie thinks hey ho i can get into this and besides the high price finds he cant cast with it, these mags need to get back to thier roots, we dont all fish with the newest gear, in fact a lot of people cannot afford the stuff, exotic fishing locations, 99% will never go there, yes i appeciate that new methods of fishing need to told about but it seems to be a case of "blast a bait to the horizon", the vast majority of guys cant hit 100 yards, many overestimate what they can cast, i recently was trying out a new reel and had a guy arrive saying he could cast a bait 180 yards with bait, ok he may be able too, i welted one out and as it hit the water he was convinced i had pushed it close to 300 yds, as i had 150 mtrs of braid on the reel and it had just gone onto the mono i knew that this guy cant cast the distances he claims, the writers for these mags are anglers, lets see them fishing venues that you dont need to hit big distances, lets see them using tackle that most people use not tackle thats been supplied from the makers, i for instance use a fladen warbird for most of my fishing, ok in the hands of a tourny caster its gonna fold, but it suits me for most my fishing,it been used on north east storm beaches in storms and in flat calm conditions, i also have an abu suveran xp and find that i cannot hit it as hard as i can the warbird without the spool moving under my thumb ( wet hands), i purchased that from a guy who is shorter than me who could not get it to cast as far as his old thompson, i see guys using okuma`s and fladen reels on the beaches yet you never seem to see the writers using what us common folk are using, its always ` penduluming my ziplex/conoflex moonreacher i let fly, the penn 10k air bearings made nary a noise as the line shot from the spool`, lets see areas covered in more detail in these mags, not just a two page spread, the latest crap from the govenment needs to be addressed but as far as i know tsf is the only mag to do so and that seems to have been a one off

problem I have with SE and now becoming so with TSF is the repetitive nature of the features they run, often with the same pics they used the year(s) before, you can almost set your watch by them sometimes. I used to subscribe to both, but now neither. seldom give them a look in the shops either. so once you've got/had 2 or 3 years issues, they all start to look the same. Ok for new people coming into it though so I guess its a balancing act to a degree.

One thing you do need to do... employ a designer! can make a whole world of difference
