Seaburn Beach

Do any of you know if the above beach fish on a night time? Thinking about dorwning some worms monday night. If anyone can give me advice where to fish that would be great.

I've benn wanting to ask that question!! I'd just fish it anyway!! But someone on here may give yer a definate answer.

Hello mate, I think you might be wasting your time fishing on this beech this early in the winter season. You will be better off these marks after the sea has been away. The best marks are usually behind Latimers fish shop after a northerly blow or a mark straight down from where the Whitburn hotel used to be. I think there is an old peoples home on this site now. This mark is called the steel

Had fish along that beach anywhere between the Steel and the pipe.

I like it best on a north westerly or north easterly big sea at low water to the right of the Steel, the Steel stops the waves breaking onto the beach and theres a hole that runs along the Steel to the reef only want to cast about 60 yards and fish it 2 down 2 up once the waves break over the steel theres to much shallow white water kelp n weed for my liking.

Sure a will be giving it a bash this winter if conditions are right.

Wasnt very productive last year due the the lack of big seas mostly westerlies and when it did come away was alot of southeastlies I've had a couple 5's and 6lbers from there a lad had a 10lb+ from there after I left one night.

Infront of Morrison's again over low water is canny shot as well with a gentle surf running.

Thanks lads for getting back to me. Ill defo be giving it a bash am not one for the piers myself, can i ask where abouts is the steal?? is it the 1st set of rocks that go out behind latimers?

Yes you have moorings inside the steel the doors where the boats go out and the strip of rocks that go out to sea which are uncovered at low water is the steel.

Davey, I sort of know the area.... well, I go Latimers all the time anyway and have seen those rocks! lol.

If you go down onto that stretch of rocks, are you casting to the north, east out to sea or back towards sunderland? Im assuming it is fairly heavy ground?

I don't walk onto the steel I fish from the beach about 50 yards to the right. Casting east \ south east direction. If you cast to far to the left you hit the steel and if cast to far out you hit the reef.

Medium sized tide 2 down 2 up in the dark.
This time of year it can be good for Bass with ragworm fished in the surf.
It does throw up plenty of Codling later in the year in the right conditions.

I used to fish it regularly and never got much in a SE, but got some really good bags in massive northerlies.

I've found that small or medium tides fish best, springs are no good as the hole you fish into dries out. If you have a plodge around during the summer springs, you can see the ground you're fishing onto and collect a few sets of gear as well.

Its one of the few places I've seen that Ragworm has really outfished Lugworm as well.
