i had a leak on my boat water was comming through the sturn tube. my boat its a double ended clinker 30ft ive replaced the gland packing which has slowed it rite down to 25mm a day but its still got a small leak is there anything on the market that i can use to stop the leak which will cure under water thanks lads

have you repacked it with grasse to mate as well as the stuffing ? failing that pack it even more

cheer mate think thats the only option left mate or get it lifted back out and get it sorted still got a few weeks till season starts so its just a case of catching the right tide after work or weekend

used four tubes of grease Si i think its coming in between the sturn shaft and the hole in the wood mite get it on the slings this weekend up yard strip it out and start again sealing every possible place it can seep through

peter you can get something called super putty my mother bought some of one of the shopping channels to patch a leaking pipe, it looks like a small stick of rock you knead it like you would putty and can apply to wet surfaces and it seals and dries rock solid in an hour.google in super putty they sell it on ebay or if you live near to jarrow pm me i will give you a tube.

hi peter gland is supposed to drip , if it does not it will start to wear shaft causing more problems.

Have you put enough turns of packing in and tightened it up enough once it has setttled?
