was out on sun and a part on my engine broke not sure what it is i think it cools gear box oil then goes on to cool the engine !!!have to find out what it is then try to find a part its an old engine bmc 2.5 any advice would be gratfully accepted

i could get one it is a cylinder about 12" sea water goes in bottom then out top then two hydrolic i think ! pipes go to the gear box i think anyway rear of engine

Havent been around BMCs for a long time, are we talking jabsco pump/heat exchangers.
These can be repaired quite easily so dont get suicidal, have you got the boat in S/land Marina ?

its is in sunderland marina dave dont think it can be fixed as the whole bottom of it came away !! its cast iron i think and looked as it had cracked and a large chunk that the sea water pipe is attached to which is the inlet for sea water !!!cheers

think we are definitely talking heat exchangers here - oil cooler one I reckon

which luckily is the easiest to swap, and not as critical to the model of engine.

The part thats broken is it part of the engine or is it an accessary part, can you remove it and install another cooler. I might have a couple in the garage!!!.

it is separate from the engine it is bolted to an angle iron only thing connected to engine are to pipes with screw fitting ends

That doesnt sound so bad, if you get stuck www.asapsupplies sell all kinds of different heat exchangers. Some of the PRM boxes have them bolted/clamped on the top, I am sure they do stuff for PRM boxes etc!!!.
If I think on I will have a look to see what I have in the garage, will be down the boat the morra.

thanks a lot for advice dave what time roughly would you be down marina im at work but my dad would be down there i think hes taking it of to try and get it matched or something similar
