Second Lure Bass

Alpologies for the shoddiness of this report lads, i'll try agian.

Headed out with Carl Last night for a few hours with the surface poppers, we didnt have much luck untill the light was staring to fail then bang, i was into a nice little schoolie, it gave a good account for its self as i tried to keep it away from the kelp, once landed it had a quick photo and safely returned to fight another day. We saw a lot of sand eel broiling up close in and cast straight into them with no luck though, had a take off a small coaly not much bigger than my popper, guess it was them spooking the eels not the bass. Called it a night when it was getting a too dark. Will be down there again soon.

sorry about the picture being late lads. The fish even got its fins up for the picture!

Well done Phil. My favourite style of fishing.

yeah its getting that way for me, the big problem i've got is, the tides are all wrong for the next 4 weeks, with the nights getting dark early and the lows being small i wont be able to get on my mark i might have to hang up the lure fishing till next year.

Find another mark. I've done about 150 hours this summer and about 100 last summer and now have four marks I know pretty well and a couple more I'm still finding out about. I have a high water mark, a low water mark, and two that fish in between. Put the hours in and you'll be rewarded mate. Dawn is as good as dusk, if not better if you can get out before work or on a weekend.

Will keep that in mind mate, how late in the year do you fish for them ?

It depends on the seas. It will start to get more swell more often and the seas will properly colour soon. Water temp should also be above 10 oC ideally. I caught my last two last year around mid september but you could still be catching in November if you get the conditions I reckon.

Got one myself tonight. Just over 3lbs on a Patchinko surface lure. Sorry about the Microsoft Paint disguise but like to keep the mark secret.
