Severe Snow Warning Tonight.

Watch your self when your out tonight people, just seen the weather on the TV and it is not looking good at all. The roads are pretty bad in Consett area already but Northumberland is supposed to get the worst tonight.

Watch how you go.

its snowing realy bad were i am now jim never stopped for about an hr and big snowflakes,just not worth going out when like this the fish can wait.

prob is we wish for the northerly winds and then you get the snow and ice with it, the likes of hendon prom can be bad getting up the small bank with snow on it.

sods law holiday time and cant get out.

Your not wrong John, you used to be able to get your car down to a mark in Tynemouth, the small prom that leads around to King Edwards Bay. My mate took his car down one night and we had to push him up to get back out. We never gave it a thought till we went to go home and it wouldn't get up the steep hill lol. It took us a few goes to get out and we thought we were going to be spending the night there.

I can confirm it is very bad up Northumberland. In Beadnell at 3 o'clock today it went black and got the worst snow i've seen for many years!!!! Within 45mins it was a cpmplete white out. Only just got home to Cramlington but took best part of 2 1/2 hours!!! + it was stillcoming down hard.

Got to be at work in Rothbury at 5am so fingers and toes crossed!!!!!! putting a spare duvet in boot now

My son has just come back in and says all of the roads from Blackhill into Consett are now unpassable. I know we are quite high up here but it looks as though the whole area is going to Kop one tonight.

Harry, it said we were to get more tomorrow too mate.

It must be pretty bad in Royston Vasey tonight Mark?

it took me 45mins to get into work tonight and its normally only a 45 min drive, i know my uncle if off to brave the weather tonight on the huegh just hope its all worth it for him il keep you all posted

Aye, looks like it could be a canny one John. It's a good few years since we had any proper snow here. Most people in Consett knew how to drive in it but there are so many new housing estates that have gone up in our area bringing new people in and they are not used to driving in snow in a very hilly area. Every time it starts now our roads just get jammed up straight away making travelling anywhere impossible.

That's what my boy said when he came in before Taffy, his girlfriends father is stopping at his other daughter's in Blackhill as there isn't a chance of him getting back to Iveston.

Went down to Target rock at sunset, weather looking good so I took no wet gear.

An hour later I was drenched, and back in the house.

it normally takes me 2 mins to get to my local - but i reckon it will take me 10 mins ,and i will probs be like a fat bambi on ice :red::red:

Lol Jim, one of the gritter's lives at the end of our street and he takes the gritter home with him. He used to put it on down our street too but not now.

Doesn't seem to be as cold as it was last night Taffy, it is a rather mild -1 almost balmy for Consett in December
