Jordy, if you go into Blackhill bowls club, they have pictures of the bowls match that had to be cancelled through snow in June lol. I have seen it snow twice in June here and the first one was a good fall.

Consett must be back on the map there was pictures in the mirror on friday so we must have got the most of the white stuff

just got back from fishing the heugh ,freezing strong winds then the winds died and the snow came totall white out ,went home at 6 this evening looking like a snowman ,with no fish.

There isn't that much snow here really, I still can't hear much in the way of traffic though (just stuck my head past the gate) but there are a few tyre tracks along our street. I think the main problem is the ice underneath the snow, it's pretty bad.

fished seaburn beach last night couldnt feel fingers after ad baited, up took 15 mins to warm hands back up then had to bait up again lol.
lasted till bout 1am it got so cold the sand mixed with water froze to my rod bag and zip froze solid was unreal :o rod bag felt like solid tubing it had froze that hard. even the bait juice had froze to bottom of bucket.
I must av been mad but was my only day off till xmas

Lol clarky, I've had a few nights like that mate. Keeping your worms inside your box to stop them from freezing, hands so cold you couldn't cast and the sand frozen so solid you couldn't break it by jumping on it. I was never that bothered about the cold, it only became really bad when there was a wind behind it, that's when it became too uncomfortable for me. I think it only happened once when I was fishing and one other time. I don't know what the temperature was when I was fishing but the other time my wife and I were in Hexham and it was -15 with a light wind too, that was really painful. That was some very quick shopping and back to the car lol.

I was on nights last night. It got to minus 6 in Ch-Le-St. My mate said he had found a place in Fencehouses at -9.
Drive to work in the snow from Consett was an absolute breeze in my mates x-trail. It makes me want a 4x4 more than ever.
When i get one i can also use it to get to marks on the beach such as Horden.

Mick. (nightshift weekend and half nights next weekend).

trust me mick the x trails not that good in the mud at horden , not without a decent set of tyres anyway, for any you lads venturing down there, main road through south hettons and down into horden was a bit hairy today, still minus 6 ant dinnertime and that was in the L200, if the old coal roads up to its normal were the road really goes down by the bend will be full of ice, pulled one guy from the trees there last ice we had, he lost it coming up and ended up in the trees going backwards

took these pic last night :)
just click the pic to make it bigger

sorry for the shaky pics but it was pretty cold hangin out the landin window to take these

It looks like we are going to get a canny bit more before daylight tomorrow, not just on high ground either. Watch how you go everyone it will be pretty bad on top of the ice.

Jim.

It was quite bad getting up to Consett, went to the post office and the chemist and came home. By the time we came home the main roads had cleared and it's just wet now. Pleased it did stop as it probably dropped 40 minutes off our journey   every road jammed solid by drivers who haven't a clue.

Jim.

roads in general down this way seem to be thawing a bit, as long as we dont get a bad freeze and it all goes to ice for the evening/morn, looking up north there seems to be a fog coming in as well
