Shady 28-08-10 Quick report.

Bert, Kenny, Jim (TopflY) & myself this morning, we were probably out the piers for 5.30am only to be met by a nasty westerly wind (as predicted - xcweather spot on again). With the drift very swift we didn't venture past the 3 mile marks where we fished alongside Slinky Kate & JFK. Between the four of us we managed 22 cod & 1 squid caught by Bert, first time I've seen a squid caught.

We spent the last hour at anchor fishing for flatties, we hooked a few dabs but sadly no plaice.

We've been so spoiled lately the catch felt a tad disappointing but on reflection that's a canny catch of cod for this time of year when we mostly see ling.

Anyway, another cracking mornings fishing with great company - Cheers lads!

22 cod is a belting day really, like you say we have been spoilt this year so far but it wont last. A couple of cod we had last week had 8-9" squid in the gutts.

aye hard yakka out there today - but you still managed to grind out a "mere" 22...like you say we've been spoilt so a testing session was on the cards at some point
