well me,bert, kyle and les went out on shady early start 4am,and 200 yards off the end of shields pier kyle pulls in an 18 lb 8 oz ling and the next drift bert pulls in a 17 lb 8 oz ling
we had cod to 8 lb also
it was a cracking day out

As Sless had said just out of casting range ! We ended up with 20 good strong fighting cod all caught on Pirks in less than 50ft of water .. long time since I've see fish of that quality so close inshore on the snags ! Not far to go

God yes .. like having a pitbull on the end of the line ! Just goes to show you dont have to head for the horizon and deep water ! Still I'm curious as to why fish so big are so close to shore ! Maybe the tyne tunnel getting dredged out and lots of small fish feeding on worms coming down the river .. hence where there are small fish you will get preditory fish feeding on them ... could be wrong tho
