Met up with Bert and Keith at 7.00 for the SSBAC comp,
but with Shady up on the quay being pampered, we were
kindly loaned Karm by our friend Garry.
All the boats left the moorings and set off down river and out through the piers.
Everyone heads off in different directions, all with their own plans on how to catch fish. This is where Bert excels, because he always has a plan for every trip,
which he runs by us. Today he stuck to it and it paid off.

We hung around the inshore marks using the crab that
Keith has nursed for the last few weeks, picking up about 20 cod then headed out to the wrecks to try for the ling. Picking some mackerel up on the way.
As the high water slack came , we dropped into the wreck, but caught mainly small ling and a few size cod.
Bert then tried another wreck. which gave up some good cod, a nice pollack for Bert, and double figure ling for me.

When the ebb tide picked up we moved again and just
Using shads. Started bringing decent cod over the gunells till it was time to leave them alone, and head back for the weigh in.
We all had about 20 fish apiece to weigh in, so all in all
A great days fishing and a plan that payed off .
A big thanks to Garry Bert and Keith.

Great day afloat with great company.

Thanks as ever Jim, Gary & Bert. I think the club should have a prize for the top skipper of the season, it's no fluke was are doing well in these comps. Bet there wasn't many other skippers up at 4am planning for a comp that didn't start till 8am. :)
